The Greens proposal would cap the number of flights from Brisbane Airport to 45 an hour.
abc.net.au/news/qld-greens-airport-curfew-would-cost-says-aviation-expert/102813618A bid by the Greens to bring in flight caps and a curfew at Brisbane Airport will drive up airfares, according to an aviation expert.Airline Rating's Geoffrey Thomas said travellers would miss out on cheaper flightsGreens MP Elizabeth Watson-Brown will introduce a bill to federal parliament next week, to cap flights at 45 an hour, and stop flights between 10pm and 6am.
"If you've got hard curfews all of a sudden at 11pm at night and the plane can't take off, the airline has to unload the 200 or 300 international passengers off that plane, put them up in hotels, which drives up the cost of air travel.""It will be an impediment to the development of the airport, it will be an impediment to the development of Brisbane as a tourism centre, which will impact on jobs.
Mr Thomas said there would be more flights, but that the aircraft in future would be "significantly quieter". Ms Watson-Brown told ABC Radio Brisbane's Drive program aircraft noise was affecting people's health.
