Robertson said the idea to make them was sparked by a world phenomenon of what was known as fairy doors. “That’s what it’s for. For people to take personal joy in seeing them every day and I get updates here and there, which is nice,” he said. One door, which Robertson described as a “real fairy door”, sits in a tree outside his mother’s home in New Zealand.“People would see it. I chose red because it was nice and bright and it became a reasonably fancy door. There was no real purpose to it, I just thought it’d look nice,” he said.
