A Brisbane man who works in finance has left Australia ns unimpressed after he revealed his $400,000 salary, with many claiming he 'should be making millions'. Australia ns have criticised the high salary of a Brisbane man, claiming he should be earning much more as he works in private equity . GetAhead, an app which allows Australia ns to swipe for jobs like dating sites, posts videos on its TikTok asking people what they do for a living and how much they earn.

He said he worked in private equity, stating that it involved acquiring businesses where they can 'hopefully grow them, and then you realise your returns out of selling them or taking funds out of the companies as dividends'. 'If he's in private equity and making 300-400k he's not doing well... these guys should be making millions,' one commented. ''I'm in PE' but only makes 3-400k? And he invests in 'Early stage high growth businesses'? Did he mean VC or growth equity?' another asked. Others defended the salary, arguing it was very respectable regardless of the work. 'People acting like 300-400k is bad. It’s life changing money for 99 per cent of people. This is really solid profit for the risk involved,' another commented. 'Not only that, dude is literally in the top 1% of earners in Australia and seems like that’s not enough,' a third responded. The man said he started out in banking before launching his own firm to 'invest in early stage high growth businesses'.
