Plans to attract high residential projects to South Brisbane should be considered “a dud” after only one application was received in six months, the area’s councillor Trina Massey said.Brisbane City Council received state government approval in 2023 to encourage high density living – up to 90 storeys – on the South Brisbane corner of the Brisbane River.
”Brisbane City Council said additional information was being sought from the developer of a 30-storey project on Melbourne Street because it was impact assessable.Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said he was not concerned only one application had been received in six months.He said the Kurilpa high-density plan was still being assessed by the private-sector market in tough conditions where companies were “falling over”.
