The organising committee, which kicks off the 10-year countdown this weekend, currently only has three people - and one of them is out of the country.

The organising committee of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, which will comprise a team of thousands by the time the tournament kicks off in a decade from Saturday, currently has just three people and will not have a chief executive until the end of the year.who with director Brendan Keane and communications director Rebecca Masci are the only people in the organisation to date, said the appointment of someone to the crucial CEO role would take the rest of the year.

The Games kick off on July 23, 2032, and the person selected for the role would last the distance, Mr Liveris said.“You’ve got to [come on board] with the passion,” he said. “It’s going to be a long 10 years for that person.” Even though it does not have a CEO, the organising committee is starting the procurement processes for companies supporting the Games, which has a $US4.5 billion budget. Potential suppliers needed to have their supply chain transparency, Indigenous and other sustainability measures ready to show, Mr Liveris said.

“Government appointees cease their appointment when the government changes, that’s normal,” Ms Palaszczuk said.
