Tom Robinson, 24, spent 13 hours clinging to his upturned boat in rough seas during the final leg of a record bid after setting off from Peru over a year ago.
A cruise ship has rescued a Queenslander attempting to become the youngest person to row solo across the Pacific Ocean.
However, he activated his distress beacon when his boat was damaged in rough seas about 6pm on Thursday, alerting the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. “Soon after, and some 13 hours since his EPIRB was activated, he rang his family at home,” Robinson’s support team said on his website.
