Temperatures soared to 40°C in parts of the sunshine-state, setting historic records for the month of March. 9News
For most of the state’s south-east, those temperatures are expected to remain until at least the weekend when a cool change could drop them below the low 30s.
Forecasters have said strong winds and large hail are still a possibility, with heavy rain also possible along the coast.In Sydney temperatures hit 33C, although there is still a chance of showers later in the evening. In Melbourne, the weather was even cooler today with a top of 19C and 20C by tomorrow. Cloud cover and light winds could mean the rest of this week will be chilly before a 28C day on Saturday.Leading into the weekend, Tasmania should receive typically-Autumn weather with temperatures not tipped to rise above the mid-20s.
