Train commuters have been told to expect delays into the evening after a truck driver towing a trailer took out powerlines in Brisbane , shutting down entire rail lines for hours. The incident happened at the Beams Rd level crossing in Carseldine about 5am and has caused hold-ups right throughout Monday for people travelling to and from the city. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured when the overheight load clipped the powerlines, sending sparks flying and wires to the ground.
Repair crews have been on site since this morning working throughout the day to get the network back up and running. Queensland Rail’s head of corporate affairs Nev Conway says commuters should expect delays into the evening. “If you’ve got alternative transport take it, but if you can’t there will be rail replacement buses, and the network will be running. It just won’t be as smooth as it normally is,” Conway said. The rail boss was also critical of the driver.
