The Brisbane Youth Detention Centre has entered a strict lockdown after a worker at the centre tested positive to the coronavirus.

Youth Justice Director-General Robert Gee announced the Wacol facility rolled out a thorough response and all staff and residents had been issued with appropriate PPE. “We’ve been practicing and workshopping and of course testing our systems since COVID first came to light so I’m very confident that we’re doing everything we can to make sure that all of the staff, all of the young people, visitors, families and friends are supported,” he said.
