The body of a British man has been discovered in a swamp after a suspected road accident in Bali.
Michael Andrew, 36, was found lying facedown by shocked locals near a landfill in Denpasar City, on Sunday morning.
His fiancée, Indah Prihartini, 36, said he went to a nightclub in the beachfront area of Legian on Friday night.Police chief Kompol Gede Sudyatmaja said: ‘At around 1am, the victim sent a WhatsApp message to his girlfriend and said he was on his way home. ‘However, after waiting until the morning, the victim did not come home and was contacted by his cellphone, but it was not active.’Bali police have launched an investigation into Michael Andrew’s death
An investigation has now been launched into Mr Andrew’s death, but detectives suspect he died in a road accident.Officers also found his wallet at the scene, containing a driver’s licence, ATM card, room key and some cash. The police chief added: ‘It is suspected that the victim was involved in an accident and fell into the swamp.’
