Experts from the National Crime Agency were asked to assist with the investigation last year
Officers from 'Britain's FBI' were reportedly called in by Police Scotland to help with the investigation into the SNP's finances.
The review was requested last year and it is reported that it was a matter of "good practice" to make sure that nothing was missed. There is no suggestion that Police Scotland had mishandled anything in the case. It was also reported that this was the only role in the investigation that the National Crime Agency had.
The investigation, called Operation Branchform, surrounds £600,000 which was raised between 2017 and 2019 for a second independence referendum. Concerns were first raised at the end of the 2019 when SNP accounts showed there was less than £100,000 in the bank.
