Brittany Higgins breaks her silence for the first time since a report examining the prosecution of Bruce Lehrmann was released.
Ms Higgins said the police never wanted to lay charges against Mr Lehrmann: "despite the fact that no one, not even the defence, made an application contending that the prosecution was not properly commenced".
During the inquiry, multiple witnesses involved in the investigation and subsequent trial were called to give evidence, including police officers. When he was asked during the inquiry if the report was highly critical of Ms Higgins, Superintendent Moller disagreed. "Could I have put some of those details in my report? I could have, I accept that, but I was highlighting what I thought were the key issues," he said.
Superintendent Moller was asked during the inquiry if it was "inappropriate", or confronting, for five police officers to surround Ms Higgins while she was sitting on a "low couch" at the conclusion of the interview.
