Labor has renewed calls to Opposition Leader Peter Dutton to “show leadership” and act on “backbencher” Scott Morrison following the Solicitor-General’s legal opinion on the secret cabinet saga.
Solicitor-General Stephen Donaghue QC found Mr Morrison’s appointments were valid but his failure to publicise the decisions was “inconsistent” with the system of responsible government.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022 Mr Gorman said on top of the failure to act strongly on the revelations around Mr Morrison, the Opposition Leader now presided over a “broken” Coalition. Mr Albanese has moved to adopt changes suggested in the legal opinion – including better publication of ministerial changes – while the Opposition has vowed to “work with the government” on the proposals.
