Jeff Browne’s four-person ticket has swept to power at Collingwood with the former head of Nine announced on Friday as the new president of the Magpies.
Korda criticised the AFL for skimming another $2 million each from all of the big four clubs in their annual distribution saying that the harder the clubs worked to make money the faster the AFL took it from them.The AFL announced it had reduced the minimum distribution per club from $10million to $8million and four wealthy clubs - Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn and West Coast - would all only get the bare minimum meaning each club would lose $2million a year.
Browne had already said in his campaign launch that he would take on the AFL about the cuts to the soft cap and that was before the AFL cut distributions by $2million. “Contrary to all the ridiculous stories in the press Peter and I have worked very, very well together during this year and at certain stages there wouldn’t be a day go by I didn’t talk to Peter,” Korda said.
Korda said the club was undertaking a review to put to members regarding eligibility for members observing that although the club has over 85,000 members only about 11,500 were eligible to vote.
