Cleveland is Cleveland? No, Nick Chubb is Nick CHubb.
While the Browns offense has different capabilities than it did a year ago in large part due to its dual threat quarterback and more speed, the one thing that hasn’t changed from the past is Chubb’s reliability.And then there’s the fun new wrinkle: He added in 21 yards through the air, catching all four of his targets -- a huge accomplishment considering his hands in the pass game have been one of the few questions about his ability.
Early against the Bengals, Chubb was actually the one constant in the pass game. Watson didn’t complete a pass to any other Browns player until the 33-second mark in the first quarter -- a 20-yard gain to Amari Cooper. On the ground, Chubb got involved early -- literally, from the first offensive snap. Some running highlights from him included in the third quarter on Cleveland’s third drive, when Chubb had four carries for 26 yards. That set up a 34-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins to give Cleveland a 13-3 lead.
Early in the fourth quarter, When Cleveland got the ball back at the Cincy 18 after a stellar Myles Garret fourth down sack, Chubb was off to the races. he ripped off an 11-yard run to get to the 7, and followed that up with a 4-yard gain to set up a TD from Watson to Harrison Bryant.So Watson was right. Just about everything is different, including the versatile ways they can use Chubb.
