Based on what Teller went through in 2020, there’s a good chance he’ll sit out next week’s game against the Bengals too -- the Monday Night Football game here on Halloween night.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns right guard Wyatt Teller has seen this script before, and he knows how the movie ends.
He suffered a left calf strain in the second quarter of Sunday’s 38-15 loss to the Patriots, and sat out the rest of the game. He showed up in the locker room in a left walking boot Wednesday, and said he’ll probably sit out the Ravens game Sunday. But based on what he went through in 2020, there’s a good chance he’ll sit out next week’s game against the Bengals too -- the Monday Night Football game here on Halloween night. At this point, he’s week-to-week.
In 2020, Teller sat out three games with a right calf strain, and also had the bye week to heal. This time around, the Browns have a bye again after these back-to-back AFC North games, and the hope is that he’ll be up and running Nov. 13 in Miami. In a perfect world, he’ll heal quickly and make it back for the Bengals Oct. 31st, but he’d need a minor miracle for that. The good news is that it’s a soft tissue injury and not his Achilles, which could’ve been season-ending.But it’s still a blow for the Browns’ top-ranked rushing offense, one that’s averaging 172.1 yards per game. Teller, a 2021 Pro Bowler, is a mauler in the run game, and he’ll be missed no matter who replaces him.
