UFC announcer Bruce Buffer was left with egg on his face after getting the result completely wrong.

UFC announcer Bruce Buffer had to issue an apology after getting a result wrong on the promotion's latest card.'s most recent Fight Night event saw former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya return to the Octagon in a bout against Joe Pyfer, the latter picking up the victory via TKO in the second round.

But the biggest talking point of the night came in the prelims when Buffer announced the wrong winner for the bout between Tyrell Fortune and Marcin Tybura. The two met in a heavyweight encounter in Seattle, with Fortune making his UFC debut ten years after turning professional in MMA.The three-round bout went the distance, with the decision going to the judges' scorecards. With both men stood in the Octagon alongside referee Herb Dean, Buffer, brother of boxing legend Michael, had his cards in hand and read out the unanimous verdict. He proceeded to announce that Tybura picked up the victory after the fight was scored 30-32, 29-28 and 29-28. The Polish fighter had his hand raised and Fortune quickly scarpered from the cage. After boos from the crowd, the commentary confirmed that a mistake had been made and hometown hero Fortune returned to the Octagon."Mistake made in the announcement of Marcin Tybura, so we're going to get Tyrell Fortune back in there. He didn't expect his moment to happen like this, so we apologise for that. Bruce Buffer back on the mic again." Buffer then did a re-run where he confirmed that Fortune was in fact the winner and issued an apology.“The scoring is 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27 to the winner by unanimous decision, Tyrell Fortune.”Fortune was then interviewed by UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier and said he "was so upset with myself" despite "questioning" the result which proved to be inaccurate. He moved to 18-3 in MMA and the former Bellator man will now find himself in the UFC heavyweight rankings when they are updated on Monday.
