The opposition leader says Brittany Higgins and her fiancé David Sharaz should settle the senator’s defamation actions against them and issue a “full apology”.
Already a subscriber?Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says Liberal senator Linda Reynolds has been vindicated by Federal Court Justice Michael Lee’s judgment in Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation action against Network Ten.
Mr Dutton congratulated Justice Lee on his judgment, which involved “a highly complex, sordid affair” that he went through with a fine-tooth comb, but reserved further commentary pending a possible appeal. Following a long mediation session on March 5 this year, for which Higgins and Sharaz returned to Australia from their new home in France, the former was hospitalised. The matter is set to return to court on May 24.
