The former Liberal staffer has been given extra time to file amended grounds of appeal, as he seeks to overturn the result of his failed defamation case.

In a hastily arranged case management hearing today, the Federal Court heard Mr Lehrmann missed the original deadline of last Thursday to file any amendments to the appeal. The money was disbursed from a trust account, into which News Life Media and the ABC paid money upon settling Mr Lehrmann's defamation actions against them.While Justice Wendy Abraham agreed to give Mr Lehrmann until next Thursday to file any amendments, she was critical of Ms Burrows for not raising the issues earlier."You don't wait until breached and then come to the court."
