The defenseman has become a valuable piece in Boston, where he led the Bruins in time on ice (24 minutes, 47 seconds) and had one assist Thursday in a 2-1 victory over his former team.
October 20, 2022 at 8:25 p.m.And he also realized what not to do.
“I tried not to be too chatty and talky out there,” the Boston Bruins defenseman said. “It’s like, my friends. I tried to get into my game and focus out there.” This was Lindholm’s first game against his former Ducks teammates since he was traded to Boston in March for two players and three draft picks. It wasn’t going to be easy considering he had played his entire NHL career in Anaheim and Lindholm knows it will be tougher emotionally when the Bruins play at Honda Center on Jan. 8.
He made a point of coming down the hallway after the game to see his former teammates, coaches and staffers. Ducks coach Dallas Eakins, after finishing his media session, spotted Lindholm in the corridor and gave him a hug. It’s clear Lindholm has become a valuable piece in Boston. On Thursday, he led the Bruins in time on ice and had one assist. There was also one minor penalty late in regulation that could have been costly. Lindholm went off with 33 seconds left for roughing the Ducks’ Frank Vatrano and the penalty carried over into overtime.
