All at once, BTS’s “Butter” collects gold, platinum and double platinum certifications in the U.S.
... [+]After falling from No. 1 to No. 17 last week, BTS’s “Butter” climbs slightly on the latest Hot 100, lifting to No. 14. As it improves its standing once more, the tune earns several important awards in the U.S., proving it to quickly be perhaps the band's biggest hit yet.
The RIAA has just certified “Butter” double platinum, as it has now shifted at least two million equivalent units in the U.S. between pure sales and streaming equivalents. Before today, the track had yet to earn any certification from the organization, but in one fell swoop, the tune collects gold, platinum and double platinum prizes.
“Butter” is now tied as BTS’s most-certified single in the U.S., and it marks their second time earning a double platinum plaque. This past March, the band’s “Dynamite” also experienced the same immediate gratification, as it too went from zero awards to several at once.
