Dawson Lane is closed in both directions due to a fire at a landfill site from Central Avenue to Preston Road. Residents nearby are being advised to close all doors and windows. Crews are using jets to extinguish the fire and currently remain on scene.Firefighters say that the cause of the blaze was a large amount of landfill waste that was well alight on their arrival. Eight fire engines from Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Leyland, Fulwood, Blackburn, Penwortham, the command support unit from Fulwood, the Hagglund and the water bowser were mobilised to the incident. Crews have been using jets to extinguish the fire.
Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service has revealed that its drone is being employed at the site, and has urged people: "Please do not fly drones nearby as you will be obstructing this emergency operation."
