An Arizona CEO who is looking at adding electric vehicles to his company's commercial fleet, examines the potential effects of the proposed expansion of the state's EV charging infrastructure system. phoenix
For businesses across the country, particularly those with large vehicle fleets, transitioning from internal combustion engines to EVs is essential for long-term success in the 21st century — and that is exactly why forward-looking companies must begin planning now to electrify their fleets and stay ahead of the curve.
A statewide system of charging infrastructure will help us and others meet this goal by improving the mobility of all passenger and commercial EVs. And it will positively impact our communities and businesses by keeping up with the demand for charging access, creating jobs to install and maintain the network, and reducing air pollution as clean vehicles replace gas-powered cars and trucks.
In order to receive the funding to build out their charging networks, Arizona’s Department of Transportation has developed EV charging infrastructure deployment plans and submitted them to the federal government. It is great to see ADOT proceed with this opportunity to bring up to $76.5 million over the next five years to the state in order to build this infrastructure along its interstate highway corridors.
By proactively engaging key stakeholders including local communities and local businesses alike, Arizona has a unique opportunity to use NEVI funds to build strategically placed, cost-effective, and interoperable public EV charging infrastructure that benefits consumers and companies alike. We encourage all businesses, residents, and motorists to participate in the Arizona Department of Transportation public feedback process by emailing AZEVPLAN@azdot.
