Parents of children at a rural NSW primary school threaten to chain themselves to classrooms over a plan to base enrolments on the number of buildings, rather than students.
Parents of children at a rural primary school have threatened to chain themselves to classrooms over a NSW Government plan to base enrolments on the number of buildings, rather than students. The NSW education department is reducing enrolments at the high-performing rural primary school from 130 to less than 50
Local parents say it is"bureaucracy gone mad", will force siblings apart and"be the demise of the school" But parents fear their beloved school is set to be a victim of its own success, with student places due to be reduced from 130 down to less than 50. The NSW Education Department will stop counting the school's demountable buildings when assessing the school's capacity, leaving only two permanent classrooms built in 2011 and an administration building.
