Firefighters are battling to control a bushfire burning near Perth's Karrakatta cemetery, as the temperature in the city peaks above 42 degrees.

Authorities say there is a possible threat to lives and homes as fire activity increases and embers are blown around the area.A bushfire advice alert has also been issued for Kings Park because of the amount of smoke in the area.At one point the Karrakatta blaze was burning in an area 30 by 50 metres in some dense 15-year-old growth.a bushfire advice has also been declared for a fire burning in Jandabup, inland from Joondalup.
