Bushfire threatening lives, homes at in Melbourne's south-east

A new bushfire which was briefly threatening lives and homes at Bangholme and Dandenong South, in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs, has quickly been brought under control.It is travelling in a northerly direction towards Bangholme and Dandenong South.

An emergency warning was issued for the fire about 6:00pm but was then downgraded to a watch and act less than 15 minutes later. Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire but people in the area are still being warned to stay close to a building in case conditions change quickly.
