Business owners in Northampton have said the town has a huge amount going for it
and it's now time to 'focus on the positives' after complaints over rising parking charges and the relocation of the market.
She argued the introduction of ANPR car parks is a "massive positive" as the queues to pay and 'no change given' will be a thing of the past. "If it's a couple of pence more then it's not the end of the world. Julie Teckman, who own's Vintage Guru emporium on St Giles' Street, admitted to feeling "a bit disappointed" at the new parking measures. "It's not what we wanted" she added, but conceded the council's decision is one "we have to all accept."
Tony Le-Britton, who opened his indoor plants store, Not Another Jungle, in the town centre last June, is in favour of the new charges and ANPR systems. "You can drive in, shop, and drive out again", he said. Kathryn Ozlati, who owns St Giles Jewellers, said it was "not wholly unreasonable" to see small increases in parking charges. "However, visitors to the town need to feel their getting good value for money."
