🔴 All businesses in Britain and Northern Ireland will get up to 50 per cent discounts on their energy bills on average as part of Government plans to see off the threat of mass closures, theipaper understands.
As well as the business support, Mr Rees-Mogg will on Wednesday announce how households in Northern Ireland will benefit from reduced bills.
Speaking in New York, Ms Truss promised that companies which need help would continue to receive energy subsidies beyond the six-month plan being announced today. Hospitality chiefs on Tuesday said it was “clear” that firms would need support beyond six months as the cost of living crisis hits consumer spending.
“ planned announcement of a new scheme is welcome in that it is the first signal of support for business in this area and we very much hope it will be simple, comprehensive and substantive to allow businesses to plot a way through the crisis.
