The Northern Territory government is set to introduce urgent legislation on Tuesday to return alcohol bans to Indigenous town camps as Alice Spring business owners claim they are under siege in the crime crisis.
“Our whole life, our savings we invested in Alice Springs and there’s no benefit and no return,” Alice Springs Chicken House and Kebab Shop Owner George Jacob told Sky News Australia.
Mr Jacob’s takeaway food shop was trashed by youths last week – leaving a damage bill of over $3,000.
