Chinese plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle specialist BYD is set to introduce a new generation of its Blade battery next year, tipped to deliver greater driving range and performance. “I think in the coming years, 2025, BYD will introduce the new generation of our remarkable Blade battery,” said Cao Shuang, BYD’s managing director for Central Asia in European Auto Sales Division, in remarks reported by CnEVPost.
In April, Fast Technology reported BYD’s battery subsidiary FinDreams had developed a new-generation Blade pack to be about 25 per cent more efficient than the current packs. The publication added it’ll have an energy density of 190Wh/kg, allowing fewer battery cells to be used to achieve the same driving range, or providing greater range without changing the pack size.
