Since the 1980s he's been the guardian of Byron Bay's Macadamia Castle. Now, the attraction's knight is set to depart the site which has since become an animal sanctuary.
He designed and built the knight by hand basing the measurements off a piece of armour homed at the attraction. Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary's Commercial Manager Amanda Gorvin hopes it will be relocated to a local destination given its strong connection to the region. Earlier this year the iconic castle located in Byron Bay's hinterland was purchased by not-for-profit organisation Wildlife Recovery Australia which sees all money spent at the site reinvested into conservation.
Ballina's Mayor Sharon Cadwallader says she would be sad to see the knight leave the region, seeing how locally loved attractions have been successfully relocated before.
