GAME STORY | Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon both score twice in Avalanche’s 6-2 rout of Red Wings
It would have sounded ludicrous as recently as four days ago to credit the 2022-23 Avalanche with a feat of dominance equally impressive as the previous year’s team.
On the heels of a loss to lowly Chicago that seemed unfathomable, the Avs suddenly look like their old selves. They scored the first five goals after Saturday’s“Obviously we weren’t playing great, but it seemed like everything that could go wrong was,” Nathan MacKinnon said. “We’ve turned it around the last couple of games. Two big wins. We do have games in hand on some teams, which is big for us. We’ve got to take care of that.
This was the first time the Avalanche scored 10 unanswered goals since March 13-18 of last season , and their first time scoring a dozen unanswered since March 18-22, 2021 .
