The Solano County Sheriff's Office announced an arrest in the cold case murder of a 21-year-old woman who was found shot to death in a cornfield in August 1980.
Working with a private lab, detectives were able to acquire a male DNA sample from pieces of evidence taken from the scene. That DNA was then submitted to a database at the San Mateo Crime Lab, which came back as a match for Herman Lee Hobbs, a 76-year-old man already in prison for aDetectives collected a fresh DNA sample from Hobbs, which again matched the male DNA found at the scene.
