Female FIFO workers say it can be a 'daunting' and isolating industry as the WA Minister for Mines calls for gender quotas to improve workplace culture.
"Women in the industry need as much support and help as they can get, and they often don't have that on site," Ms Hitchens said.
Ms Hitchens said having more women joining the industry would combat feelings of isolation that some female FIFO workers face."It is a male-dominated industry for the most part," she said. "Some sites are starting to get the hang of it … seeing more and more female-only gyms popping up on site is fantastic," Ms Hitchens said.
