Will Goyder, who suffers from type 1 diabetes, says the Omnipod has changed his life and is calling on the federal government to fund the $400 per month cost.

Mr Goyder told Sky News Australia the conventional insulin pump he previously used created difficulties whenever he played sport because he would have to disconnect it.

“And that means I’m without insulin for that time period and then that leads to some issues later on in the day, you’re having to play catch up because of the lack of insulin,” he said. “For me, now I’ve got the Omnipod which doesn’t have any cords, it’s a disposable insulin pump, if you like, and it’s about a third of the size of conventional pumps.

“And for me that’s just opened up so much flexibility in my day-to-day life and it’s been an absolute gamechanger.”
