Homlessness campaigners are demanding an investigation into the evacuation of 40 Africans from a dangerous “building site” blocks of flats
.
A sppkesperson for the group said: “This was amongst the worst cases we have seen of large numbers of highly vulnerable people, too frightened to speak up for their rights or identify themselves. The spokesperson added: “Our Homelessness caseworkers were shocked at the conditions people were living in.
Some of the residents are still seeking stable accommodation, two months after an emergency evacuation in March. “HSE has taken action with the client for the development and the construction site is currently closed.”
