A southbound Caltrain carrying about 46 passengers struck and killed a person at a crossing in Palo Alto Sunday night.
PALO ALTO -- Caltrain said at 10:34 p.m. that the southbound train that hit and killed a pedestrian earlier Sunday evening in Palo Alto was released to make all station stops.
The train was released at 10:22 p.m. Northbound tracks were re-opened through the area at 9:48 p.m. with speed restrictions of 20 mph. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Transit Police Bureau is investigating the fatal accident, which happened at 9:19 p.m. at the Churchill Avenue grade crossing in Palo Alto.This is Caltrain's second fatality of the year.© 2023 CBS Broadcasting Inc.
