Ex-police officer and barrister jailed for historic sex abuse of girl
By Phil ShepkaA former police officer and lawyer who a judge said "lived a lie for years" has been jailed for raping a girl.
The 69-year-old, of Sunbury Street, Edinburgh, was jailed for 16 years for two counts of rape and one count of indecent assault. In an impact statement, the victim said the trial, in which she was "brutally" cross-examined for three days, was "extremely distressing and harrowing".Detectives said Boyle was still working as a criminal defence barrister at the time of his arrest
