The Queen made the shocking announcement that her son’s second wife would be getting the “Queen Consort” title during her Assession Day celebration.
“I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection you continue to give me,” the 95-year-old monarch wrote in the letter to her subjects. “And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.
Camilla and the Prince of Wales, 73, tied the knot in 2005.
