Exclusive: The anti-poverty campaigners have also called on the First Minister to support an end to the council tax and impose higher penalties on polluters.
Over fifty groups have urged Humza Yousaf to stick with plans for a higher income tax for the wealthy to fund public services.
Yousaf has signalled support for a new income tax rate of 44p on earnings between £75,000 and £125,140. Campaigners want a new income tax band between the current higher and top rates in the upcoming Budget . They also support raising additional money to tackle the climate crisis by making polluters “pay for their damage”.
“To deliver that, the Scottish Government must go further on tax – building on progressive, but insufficient, reforms to date. That means continuing to use existing levers to progressively raise money while also pursuing new levers and kickstarting long overdue reform.
