Golf: Lucas Herbert eagled his last hole to finish at 8-under 63 to take the first-round lead at the Australian Open.
The morning groups are hitting the course early in the second round with all eyes on men’s defending champion Joaquin Niemann to see whether or not he can make the cut.The Chilean LIV golf star endured a disappointing +2 opening round on Thursday afternoon and with the men’s projected cut line currently sitting at -1, he has some work to do.
Min Woo Lee is in the same group as Niemann at Victoria Golf Club, and the Australian will start the day -1 so he will need to play well to ensure his place on the weekend.Stay up to date with the live scores here The Australian won three times on the LPGA this season and carried that form into the first round with a -6 effort to put her one shot off the lead.Cameron Smith will tee off at 12.05pm at Kingston Heath after he shot -6 on Thursday to be two shots back from leader, and Ripper GC teammate, Lucas Herbert.In between them is Minjee Lee who battled on Thursday with a +2 first round, and the women’s projected cut is sitting at +1.
