The pub will run for two months before the major renovation
A canal-side pub is set to reopen for the first time this year - before closing for a £250k refurbishment.
After that, a bigger refresh is planned, with owners Star Bars and Pubs set to transform both the interior and exterior of the pub, which is located overlooking the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The pub closed down last year as it became a loss-making enterprise when the kitchen was out of use. That closure was initially meant to be short term but the landlords eventually moved on. It will reopen next week under new management.
A post on the page's Facebook says: "We are situated right on the Leeds Liverpool Canal - making a gorgeous back drop for those dog walks. And we want to make sure you feel really welcome. Lead hooks, fresh water, poop bags, treats - We'll have you covered for your stop off. Brew or a pint, a bite to eat - Well behaved humans also welcome."
After the initial run, the pub will close on New Year's Day and undergo the six figure refurbishment. It is then expected to reopen for good in March. Once complete, the pub will be resplendent with painted wall panelling, cosy leather seating and quirky framed artwork designed to enhance the pub’s existing character, whilst giving it a modern finish.
