The 30-year-old Canberra man was denied bail after he allegedly kicked his partner, who is seven months pregnant, in the stomach just hours after a family violence order had been imposed.

A Canberra man has been denied bail for the alleged aggravated assault of his heavily pregnant partner just hours after a family violence order was served.A Canberra man accused of kicking his heavily pregnant partner in the stomach is behind bars after a magistrate found she had no confidence he would comply with any bail conditions.

The man's lawyer, Rachel Fisher, told the court he was prepared to abide by the strictest of conditions if granted bail. Ms Fisher told the court the man had taken anxiety medication to prepare for his first overseas trip, and had essentially woken up in a police cell with a suspected broken foot."He's on notice," Ms Fisher said. But prosecutors said the court could have very little faith that the man would comply with the interim family violence order, given he was extremely violent to police after allegedly breaching the order.
