An East Gippsland man whose house was destroyed by bushfires is calling on local councils to reduce rates for people who have lost properties.Les Anderson, whose house was destroyed by fire wants his local council to reduce its rates for people who lost properties.Mr Anderson says he will rebuild.

Les Anderson was in Traralgon receiving radiation treatment for cancer when his Sarsfield home burnt down."I just said [to the Council] that all of these people are going to be scratching for a quid," he said.Mr Anderson is now staying in a caravan at his son's house in Briagolong and travels two hours a day, five days a week to receive radiation therapy.
