There wasn't much between the sides but a special strike from the Northern Irishman settled it.
St Mirren booked their place in the Viaplay Cup quarter final draw thanks to a Caolan Boyd-Munce stunner that was enough to beat Motherwell 1-0.
The Paisley side really took the game by the scruff of the neck and Keanu Baccus was next to have a go but he fired over the bar. Visitors Motherwell did have a couple of corners in the first half but nothing that directly caused home goalkeeper Zach Hemming any issues. It was definitely a different team who came out of the away dressing room and Hemming was at full extension to save a Theo Bair effort.
Fortress Paisley Robinson’s men picked up 32 points at the SMISA Stadium last term as they broke into the top six for the first time and that’s the way it’s started again this time around. With back to back 4-0 victories against Arbroath and Forfar Athletic in the League Cup, not to mention the 2-1 home success in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.
