The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office helped investigate and prosecute the case.
SANTA CLARA COUNTY – Capital One will pay $2 million to settle a civil lawsuit alleging the bank made unreasonably frequent and harassing calls to debtors in California, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.
Individualized restitution was not possible, but the judgment requires the bank to pay $250,000 to a trust fund to support additional consumer protection efforts by prosecutors, according to the district attorney’s office.
