A car transporting organs to an emergency was hit by a brick believed to have been thrown from a bridge above.

The car had its blue lights on as it rushed to get its life-saving package to someone who needed it on May 15.

It was driving down the A38 southbound near the Toyota Island, a major roundabout, when a brick hit the vehicle at around 6pm. The brick bounced off the windscreen but caused a large crack in the glass which would have made it difficult for the driver to see through. Fortunately, the driver was not physically hurt, however, significant damage was caused to the windscreen.Officers are appealing for help to find out what happened, asking anyone with information to come forward. The incident took place during a time when traffic would have been heavy so they are hoping someone has dashcam footage of it.One person commented saying: ‘That’s the 2nd brick I’ve heard thrown from a bridge around the area.

The A38 southbound towards Birmingham is used by thousands of drivers daily to access the A50 towards Uttoxeter and Stoke and south Derbyshire villages, such as Willington and Repton
