CQC inspection reveals flaws in dispensing procedure
A care home where medication 'was not always safely managed or recorded correctly' has been told it 'requires improvement' following an inspection. A report into Haylands Residential Home for Gentlemen in Urmston has been published by the Care Quality Commission which carried out an unannounced visit on August 24 and 25.
Haylands provides accommodation and personal care to up to 24 people, supporting people over the age of 65, including people living with dementia. The report said: "Medication was not always safely managed or recorded correctly."We found examples where medication administration records had been completed incorrectly and one person had not received their medication. Care plans were not always updated in line with changing risks for people.
"People gave positive feedback about the staff and the service was described as a happy place." It said staff felt supported by the registered manager and able to raise concerns.
