The Spaniard's surgery saw him subsequently miss the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and hand over the keys to British rookie

His appendicitis saw him undergo laparoscopy surgery, with the NHS advising a couple of weeks at least for an estimated recovery time - with any strenuous activity requiring even longer. Alongside two laughing emojis, he wrote: "My road to recovery and a little tribute to the people that made this weekend happen.Speaking after his win in Australia, the soon-to-be out-of-contract star said: "Life sometimes is crazy."What happened at the beginning of the year , then the appendix and the comeback and the win - a rollercoaster, but I love it."

"As soon as I got my appendix removed, I went on the internet and started talking with professionals and said, ‘OK, what helps to speed up recovery?’," Sainz told reporters."I started doing all the sort of things that you can do to speed up recovery, the wounds, the scar tissue, what you can help to be faster on that, talking to other athletes, talking to other doctors in Spain, internationally.
