After they ended their respective marriages to be together, they’re not “’in love’ the way we were” anymore.
My significant other and I were both married when we met and hit it off. After months of flirting with danger, we finally gave in to the inevitable and decided to leave our respective spouses to be together.I have moved out, and my SO is in a more gradual process of doing the same. But now, suddenly, we are fighting more and have lost the exciting momentum of our early days together. We both still want to be together, but I’m not as sure we are “in love” the way we were a few months ago.
I will say this as emphatically as I can without arm-flapping and spittle: There is no “we” in how the still-married couple decide to move forward from here. How your SO handles your decision to step back is up to your SO, then possibly your SO’s spouse.
